I shared the “Good News” today with someone whom is extremely important to me. They are going to go to hell if they died today. Right now. Straight to hell. Stop and really consider those friends and family who don’t know Jesus. Think about it. If they do not believe in Christ as their salvation, they are going to hell for ETERNITY! I don’t know about you, but eternity is a looooooong time. I certainly don’t want to spend it in the lake of fire, do you? If you don’t, do you think anyone else really does? I suppose it’s possible that some strange individual might say, “YES! That sounds awesome!”, but I’m thinking that anyone with half a brain would rather not. It’s our, Christians, responsibility to share with others the love and truth of Jesus Christ. It’s our RESPONSIBILITY! It’s our purpose in life. We are commanded to tell others. So, for what are we waiting? It’s literally a matter of life or death..spiritual life or death…what could be more important?
Thanks to modern technology I shared the Gospel via electronic mail…I would like to share with you what I shared with them. Now, to give a bit of background info, this person believes that all roads lead to “a” heaven. That any individual can believe in a higher power, and that power determines their destiny. Which in turn determines where they spend eternity. A good person goes to “a” heaven, and a bad person (although they couldn’t tell me what really distinguishes the two) goes to hell.
This was my reply:
There is only one way into Heaven. There is only one Heaven. One Hell. One true God, and many false gods. 1,2, & 3 John all talk plainly about false teachers, teachings, and prophets. This world, ultimately Satan, is very eager to have you believe the things that will keep you from fellowship with Christ. That’s how he, Satan, get’s glory, through deception and, as a result, your separation from God. There will be a day of Judgment as it is recorded in many verses like:
Malachi 4:5, “See, I will send you the prophet Elijah before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes.”
1 Corinthians 5:5, “Hand this man over to Satan, so that the sinful nature may be destroyed and his spirit saved on the day of the Lord.”
2 Corinthians 1:14, “As you have understood us in part, you will come to understand fully that you can boast of us just as we will boast of you in the day of the Lord Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:2, “For you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night.”
2 Peter 3:10, “But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.”
You may disagree, and from what you have written you do. However, according to the word of God, which I believe to be divinely inspired by God and written by Him through men, there is only one way to be in fellowship with God that also allows for eternity to be spent with Him: trusting in Him as your Lord and Savior. Believing that you are born into sin, a sinner, and that He sent His one and only Son, Jesus, to die on a cross as the payment of that sin, was buried, rose from the dead, and ascended into Heaven without death. John 14:6, Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” Pretty clear and straight forward. No other possible routes to fellowship and eternity with the Lord. Only by trust and faith in Christ. See also Acts 4:12, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” & Acts 10:43, “All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name.”
How does one come to be in fellowship of God? Through trust in Christ. How does one trust in Christ? There is a series of verses in Romans that give a clear path to acceptance of Christ. I want to share these with you.
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”
We all have sin in our hearts. We all were born with sin. We were born under the power of sin’s control. Why is this so? Because of the fallen nature of Adam and Eve. You have to admit that you are a sinner.
Romans 6:23a “…The wages of sin is death…”
Sin has an ending. It results in death. We all face physical death, which is a result of sin. But a worse death is spiritual death that alienates us from God, and will last for all eternity. The Bible teaches that there is a place called the Lake of Fire where lost people will be in torment forever(Hell). It is the place where people who are spiritually dead will remain. Understand that you deserve death for your sin. You will go to Hell, according to the Bible, if you do not accept Christ as your Savior. One thing keeps you out of Heaven, and it is the same thing that allows you entry into eternal fellowship.
Romans 6:23b “…But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Salvation is a free gift from God to you! You can’t earn this gift, but you must reach out and receive it. Trivial? Perhaps, but not everyone asks, and therefore not everyone will go to Heaven. It’s a choice. God desires a relationship with us all, but He wants us to choose to have that relationship. He created us to have freewill to a certain extent, not to be robots. Ask God to forgive you and save you.
Romans 5:8 “God demonstrates His own love for us, in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us!”
When Jesus died on the cross He paid sin’s penalty. He paid the price for all sin, and when He took all the sins of the world on Himself on the cross, He bought us out of slavery to sin and death! The only condition is that we believe in Him and what He has done for us, understanding that we are now joined with Him, and that He is our life. He did all this because He loved us and gave Himself for us! Give your life to God… His love poured out in Jesus on the cross is your only hope to have forgiveness and change. His love bought you out of being a slave to sin. His love is what saves you; not religion, or church membership. God loves you!
Romans 10:13 “Whoever will call on the name of the Lord will be saved!”
Call out to God in the name of Jesus!
Romans 10:9,10 “…If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, you shall be saved; for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.”
This is how you have fellowship with God. This is how He hears your prayers. This is how He can work in your life, only through your intimate knowledge of Him, and a relationship with Him.
Revelation 3:20a Jesus said, “Behold I stand at the door and knock, if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him…”
All you have to do is acknowledge your sinful nature, your need for salvation, and place your trust in Christ to redeem you of your sins. So simple, yet completely life changing.
